It can only by purchased directly from the author. This book measures 8 ½ x 11. Hard Cover, Maroon with Gold Lettering no dust jacket, 839 pages 600 + black and white photographs and illustrations. 13 chapters jam packed full of valuable information and wonderful photographs and illustrations. The History of New Haven Township is a collection of materials, oral histories and photographs. The book was written with respect to gathering and preserving local history. The contents of this book were gathered from many sources such as; newspaper clippings, obituaries, census records, family bibles, cemetery records, town records, birth-death-marriage certificates, but primarily from oral accounts. Chapter 1- Find out exactly who the movers and the shakers were in forming the Township. From the influences of naming the Township, to the hard working hands that cleared the land that some of us call home today. Chapter 2- Read about the one and two room country schoolhouses that were nestled among the countryside. Step back into time, while viewing the many documents and photographs of student and teachers. Chapter 3- Learn about the important roles that the churches have played in the Township from the past to the present. Chapter 4- Have fun discovering the history that is "buried" within the confines of the graveyards. A wealth of history can be found in every one of them. Renew and strengthen your patriotism in learning about the brave men that served in the Civil War. Never let our veterans be forgotten. No matter if they served in peacetime or wartime, they are a very important aspect of our history and our present. Chapter 5- Did you know that the French Park is the only park left in the Township that still makes full use of the "hand pump" for water? And that Thatcher's Park was the very last recreational park in the Township to still use an "outhouse"? Chapter 6- Take a stroll through Graytown. A community that was once the home to many residents and growing businesses, over 80 years ago. Chapter 7- Did you ever wonder what brought and kept people in the Connorsville area? Read of the many businesses that once thrived here. Take a journey along the detailed map of the residental street of Connorsville. See who once lived here. Take a walk into one of the many general stores. Leave that store with the neighborly feeling of knowing the proprietors. Feel the pride of the Veterans organizations, and the community events. Chapter 8- In this chapter you will learn of the families of the past that shaped and formed the community into what we know today. Read of their tribulations, their accomplishments, and their history. You may even be surprised, and learn that you fall into one of the family trees somewhere along the line. Chapter 9- In the Twist of Fate chapter, read of the tragedies that affected not just one family, but a whole community. From a family devastated by a natural disaster to the pain felt by the community due to a horrific crime. Chapter 10- In this chapter, I gathered many documents that I felt would be of interest. From the building of the roads throughout the Township, to the quarantine of a home due to a contagious illness. Chapter 11- Sit, relax, and enjoy! This is a large collection of photographs. People, places and things. As you scan over the photographs, observe the style of clothing, the backgrounds of the scenic views and recollect how things have changed over the years. Chapter 12- A large collection of obituaries and memorials. There is an enormous amount of genealogical information to be found within these pages. Chapter 13- Other information is included in this chatper. Early 1900's weekly newspaper articles, and stuff that just didnt fit into the other chapters. Did you know that Connorsville once had its very own newspaper? Read from that paper, and chuckle at the editors antics.
