Each piece is unique, numbered, and signed by the artist, Richard A. Knight. His pieces are in homes around the world and are sold in shops throughout northern Florida. Zen Gardens provide an amazing period of tranquility as they are tended. Working in your garden provides one with moments of creativity and personal solitude. A short ten minutes working in the garden will enhance your mood, rendering you peaceful and more contemplative. You will be surprised how your problems and stress drift away while you work in your garden. After a short visit to your garden during the day, you will become more focused and productive. These Zen Gardens are wonderful to have at both the home and office. The sand in a Zen Garden represents water. It is customary to create water flows in the garden that move around stones as is done in the full size Zen Gardens in Japan and China. You can create hills, dunes, valleys, and rivers complimenting your design with the stones. It is interesting to try and copy some of the classic full sized Zen Gardens you can find throughout the internet. Zen Garden number Z163 is a beautiful garden created from oak, cedar, pine and vintage bamboo. The piece has a nice light brown stain to really highlight the beauty of the wood especially the cedar. This piece measures 10-1/4” by 11-1/4” and proudly stands about 2-1/2” tall. The sides of the garden are a nice cedar with beautiful wood grains. The corners are dressed in pieces of vintage bamboo. The inside seams and bottom rim are trimmed and sealed with nice oak moldings. The bottom plate is oak and the inside bottom of the garden is pine. The entire garden is banded with a wood burned graphic design as you can see in the photo. The wood was highly polished and coated with a spar urethane to give the piece a very shinny appearance highlighting the grains of the woods and characters and inlays. The bottom of the piece is oak with the maker’s marks clearly burned into the wood as you can see in the photo. Each garden and tool set takes several weeks to design, collect the materials, and create. No two will ever be the same. All the tools are hand crafted and well made. They feel good in your hand. Your standard tool set consists of a rake, smoother, and a hoe for cultivating your Zen Garden. Specialty tools and tool racks are also available. The Buddha is made of carved stone and the three black stones are highly polished. The sand was collected from several sources including the Atlantic Ocean. The sand was sifted to create a uniform granular size. The bamboo plants you see in the photo do not come with the garden. The garden is excellent quality and will last a lifetime; hopefully it will become a family heirloom. These gardens make a thoughtful gift for you, or for a very special friend, family member, or work colleague. Your treasure will come professionally packed so it arrives at its new home in excellent condition.
